Huh... I don't dislike this... but I do think there is substantial potential in a different version of this idea, where the two leads aren't tied together by the red string of fate, but still fall for each other, proving that fate (and heteronormativity) does not rule supreme, where two people without threads, indeed two women can love each other, rather than Metaphysically Validated Gay.

I like the idea, really hope it doesn't turn into overly drawn out angst. Maybe if she had confessed right before the thread showed up it would be a bit better.

I think the second chapter ended on a good note to avoid too much angst with. Amamiya recognizes and accepts that Tsumugi doesn't like the idea of a 'fated' love, but their date has made Amamiya feel very confident in her own feelings towards Tsumugi. So instead of acting like their love is destined she's pretty much approaching it as anyone that is really into someone else would, or at least her view of it.

She's going to do her best to win Tsumugi over and get her to fall in love with her, without any expectations that she'll be successful just because of the string.

I can see it already, she'll realize that she really does like senpai but some shit happens and their red thread dissapears/becomes invisible and she becomes terrified of confessing

thought they were going to go with the red thread only creating straight couples so the girls have to navigate being gay in a explicitly heteronormative society. Now the thread seems kinda pointless, MC could simply not be sure if she can return same sex romantic feelings with the same plot now.

this kinda reminds me of Korean drama "S Line". it just that the concept is different. also, amamiya and tsumugi is similar with renako and Mai from watanare. it just that amamiya isn't as pushy as Mai. still peak though. I wonder how the story goes 🤙

So the people who see the string right before they die are just being trolled by this cupid-god thing?
They get garroted by the red string of fate.

This reminds me of a short web novel about a sci-fi future algorithm that predicts the optimal partner for people and the leads being working adults, the rest is mostly the same.
