I agree with the frustration about how this was handled, but the only reason anyone is on this site is because they decided to be here. Everyone on this thread or on this site is free to go somewhere else with no consequences at all.

I always try to take a respectful approach, because it helps others see your point as more neutral and reasonable. Attacking someone personally usually only weakens your argument. However, in this case, the issue began with the staff member himself when he called everyone who was trying to understand the situation “pedophiles” over drawings. That kind of accusation opens the door for people to respond just as harshly, since he started with one of the lowest insults he could use.

I do frequent nh a lot, and my list there is bigger than here, but nh (I don't know about hitomi) is an aggregator and fully unorganized. The nice thing about MD is that it's a source for scanlations and nicely organized for tracking.

This is probably going to be one of THE incidents that'll show the incompetency of the MD staff until it's eventual end as either a forgotten piracy site or an undead corpo manga publisher. Why? Neko's messages, of course. Before I rant about this shit, keep in mind that I do not like lolis or shotas in the slightest. I've avoided and dropped plenty of series relating to them. If the Great Loli Purge went decently smoothly, I'd probably wouldn't care enough to discuss about this topic more than a few messages. Still, the way Neko address the situation, in my opinion the worst way to address banning one of the biggest parts of the anime/manga community, because it accused the audience of something... quite bad to say the least. Looking back to 1954's Brown vs Board of Education, Chief Justice Warren chose to use an objective, non accusatory tone for the SCOTUS decision. This is because he wanted to prevent a situation where resistant southerners try to ignore or push back against the decision.
Having such a tone would've made a GREAT announcement instead of the post because then people would've had some idea of what happened soon after the purge rather than be in the dark for a while. Not to mention, the fact that the mod closed off the thread after saying such a response added some sort of finality to the statement. You do not want to end a thread asking about such a big change with a response like that. Especially since the response got put on a spotlight from someone tweeting about it, getting the "silent majority" (loli/shota fans) of the anime/manga community mad. Congrats.
Going back to the Brown v Board parallel, imagine if Justice Warren didn't try to prevent the southern half of the united states to cause an uproar due to decision, instead he purposely accuses them of... you know and wrote it with a pretentious tone, just to pat himself on the back. Imagine the backlash that would get. This practically what happened in this thread. You cannot write a response like that and don't expect some backlash from happening. Keep in mind, this is someone who spent their time on the forums only on forums on comments of self-published comics, meaning that nearly nobody knows who Neko is, also meaning that such a big change to the site's rules may seem to others that it's mainly the fault of her. If someone who has been more active in the forums, and worded it differently, things would've gone a LOT more differently, like people like this person not telling Neko to fuck off.
In other words, this message alone is THE cause of all this shit you're seeing right now. But i'm like too tired to explain more (just woke up) so sorry for making ranting about an already covered topic
