It's funny how in that announcement they're trying to downplay the issue by mentioning total amount of series versus how many they removed. "Look we only removed a tiny amount of shit, don't complain or you're the worst person on the planet!"

It's the same excuse that discord used recently to excuse the age verification. "It only affects less than 10% ammount of people!" Which that by itself equals to millions of users.

The issue isn't how many series are removed or how many people are affected. It's the fact itself that's happening that's worrisome.

The speculations that are happening and will keep happening until there's a proper explaination why they're doing this and who initiated it. And by the end of the day if the choice is either mangadex goes down or becomes legit, I'd rather it goes down. At least that way I'd know they didn't throw the userbase under the bus for profit.

Thinking about it, what about series like Witches Of Adamas? By your definition that series I worked on would be wiped off of MD...

konosuba and everything else that makes them money is still up btw and will remain up
ah yes the classical hypocrisy, also as some one mentioned, they really are so salty that they had to mention how many they removed vs how many are left,(they are also not gonna mention the super popular ones that say cuz muhney) , also it’s still mentioned the dumb rule that was not enforced until now AND they still got to try to pretend they are following “the law”

ah what a joke, now some people on X (formerly known as Twitter) is running with the idea of them going Corpo 🤗

It is so funny how people jump in on the ideas of "Mangadex turn corpo" because of this incident AND the Twitter article (their first one article mind you) that isn't officially from Mangadex.

Yes, they may fumble hard this one. Doesn't mean spreading misinformation and false rumor doing any good for the situation. The internet are becoming more strict day by day with the data collecting, glorified as "age verification" so things like this might happened more frequent than you might think

Dude have you seen the way they've been talking in this thread and elsewhere? How they have suddenly yoinked up all this stuff about copyright? Honestly, I can keep going but anyone with eyes can see what's on the horizon. It's not "misinformation" or "rumours", we can literally see what they've done, what they're doing, and make predictions based on the evidence of our eyes.

I did say it in this thread before, deleting manga without prior notice to uploader is bad, removing metadata, update the rules without notifying user AND Admin out of all people calling your user pdf are all unforgivable

However, the legal aspect could be understandable, mostly because UK and other started to enforce those “for children” stuff.

You either remove few one or have the whole site taken down and the company behind (I forget the name) are the one doing the check from what I understanding.

I will eat my word and leave if they turn corpo

They will never answer either of these questions. Which is particularly dumb for the titles removed.

Instead what will happen is more and more titles and all of their chapters that have been on Mangadex for years now will continue to be removed silently. And that promise to restore titles removed to preserve metadata will never happen.

They are LITERALLY registered as a company now, there is NO reason for a piracy website to do that unless they're planning to go "legit."
