It's funny how in that announcement they're trying to downplay the issue by mentioning total amount of series versus how many they removed. "Look we only removed a tiny amount of shit, don't complain or you're the worst person on the planet!"
It's the same excuse that discord used recently to excuse the age verification. "It only affects less than 10% ammount of people!" Which that by itself equals to millions of users.
The issue isn't how many series are removed or how many people are affected. It's the fact itself that's happening that's worrisome.
The speculations that are happening and will keep happening until there's a proper explaination why they're doing this and who initiated it. And by the end of the day if the choice is either mangadex goes down or becomes legit, I'd rather it goes down. At least that way I'd know they didn't throw the userbase under the bus for profit.
