Ok very personal nitpick but,I absolutely cannot bear the fanservice.I understand its part of how they fetishise women, but I don't like it anyway.
The fact that only guys have this "zombie" just does not make sense at all.
Its just odd that only half of the population has this.
Considering its literally like a stand but weaker,it basically means half the population get a spirit to curse/bless.
Moving on.
This story suffers from the generic shonen romance curse.
E.g.Fmc is a tsundere, plot never moves on and keeps dragging, and mc doesn't realise a single thing cause of very ridiculous misunderstandings.
This is more major than you would think,as its honestly quite infuriating.
Mc is so oblivious,I swear.
Takes so damn long to realise ibusuki's a girl after she crossdresses for like a billion times and still doesn't want to admit it for the sake of his dreamed up,false ideal girlfriend.
It gets even worse at chapter 142 when he says she looks like Eve.
This guy is genuinely so retarded. You can chalk it up to "Oh but that's a flaw of his,the story is about him moving on from the ideal Eve in his mind" but this is also a problem.
This ideal Eve is honestly so ridiculously different from the actual one it makes you wonder if he's schizo, and worse of all,why she even still likes him.
Because I were her,I would be so damn put off by it.Even worse,he admits it himself and basically spends the whole story clinging to her and wishing she were real.Seeing who she liked be basically the same as other men should have disappointed her.Put her off.
The name "first love zombie" is also so misleading. Its so obviously not first love but rather current love, shown with Ibusuki's father. But this is also misleading.First love zombies are supposed to go to sleep when the creator falls in love with someone else, which is why is a contradiction.
Next.
A fundamental issue with this is how this love works.Where are the gays and the lesbians?
That's not very nice.
I don't even want to talk about the finale.
Overall,I'm not really a shipper, but for the good of the story, the first love should have been left behind.
The story should have been about moving on instead, letting go and starting a new chapter.
Looking at them talk about Eve is so corny. It all ultimately is his fault, dragging his delusions into the mess.
...It really should have been so.
Just leaving my review here to get it off my chest. This site is as good as dead anyway.
