Dude is wrong saying that all the issues are just in Thouno head, but...
There is a sliver of truth on that, Thouno has proved to be as capable as his brother, but the main difference is that Thouno didn't decide to waste all his energy to create a perfect self (Both Thouno and Rei have low self steem, by the way)

That's actually quite frustrating to watch. The so called popular kids in manga/manhwa are way too exaggerated. Sure, there are kids who get more attention than the rest but to the point where the whole class treating them like some sort of national treasure? Yeah, nope. Also, it's quite improbable that a bunch of hunks will call you out cuz you get along with the girl they like. There certainly are losers like that but it doesn't happen that often. Most people like to just mind their own business.
I think that, then I remember different culture, different rules.

And what exactly are they doing to him? His problem is that the girls are not interested in him but someone else. Guess what, most guys don't really get any special attention from the girls, unless they work for it. Though the same is true for most girls vice versa. There are the few popular ones who are natural at it, like Rei-sama. This guy Tohno gets plenty of attention, yet annoyingly the girls aren't really interested in him but his brother. Does he do anything to change that? Not really. The one girl who is interested in him specifically needs to work ten times harder because Tohno keeps pushing her away. Most nameless guys or girls would be envious of all that attention from the opposite gender. Sure, they wouldn't know how annoying it can be when it's not really about them, but it's still a lot of interaction they don't have. What a luxurious trauma, really.

I don't know if I'm socially normal (probably not considering my post count), but you are Tohno's MD account. Don't worry, kid. This will only last until Rei-sama has graduated. And it could be a whole lot worse. All those people treating your fairly, albeit with hidden agendas, could instead be every day comparing you to your brother, telling you how you are nothing compared to him. Your brother could also behave arrogantly toward you, instead of being the nice (but lazy at home) guy he is.
You must have been dropped on your head as a child or have the reading comprehension of a jjk fan

Even now that a girl is already talking to him for real they still use him as an excuse to get to his brother?

I see the usual "classroom guys who get petty jealous over the cute girl in class" shtick is being upheld in this series as well.
At least they were warded off with a well-timed accidental hosing down.

I have to imagine he'll actually end up inviting her (all the signs point to him making the move this time--her doing it once again would really kill the momentum between them), but I'm worried he'll only do it after getting cajoled by his friends. Which again, feels like a lack of progress on his part.

Though if they do end up at the Festival together, it sets up him being seen with her by his brother (who's working a stall there)--which could potentially put a misunderstanding arc in motion between Youta, Izumi, and Rei.
Or, in a more optimistic sense, a case of that triangle trope being lampshaded with Rei becoming actively supportive of Youta instead and helping to push them closer together.

Anyway thanks for the TL.
They looked like they were shipping the MC with the FMC to me

The penny has finally dropped for him. The question is, does she even realise the penny actually exists? Does she have any romantic feelings towards him?

It would be soooo nice if a protagonist could at least once tell those idiot boys that they should mind their own businesses, and if they are interested in some girl, they should approach her about it, rather than behave like 6-year olds.
It is none of their business what he does, so long as he behaves decently towards others.
(Heh. A buncha years ago, my brother's gf at that time called me out of the blue. She asked me to back off from trying to get together with a girl who was new in our circles. (No, I've never been a womanizer, or (to my knowledge) popular with girls, but she was a particularly shiny person ...) The reason was apparently that HER brother was interested in the new girl. I told her that was crazy. If the new girl was interested in her brother, she would get together with him. If she liked me, then we would get together, and if neither of us was worth her time, well ... You get it. Bro's gf was sort of annoyed, but she clearly understood that what she'd done was ridiculous.
So weirdly, that sort of thing CAN happen ... People should have more self-respect ...)
