I interpret pg 4 as Aya flagging that Hikari's kind of done w/ her, which is supported by Hikari's refusal to go save Aya in the novel version of chapter 44.
Dude, I can't gauge what the manga chapter is implying based on the novel, I don't have that foresight

I can only see what is happening here at the pace of 8-10 pages per month

Definitely! I love this series so much, not because of the series itself but how the readers have reacted to it along the way. It's been a magical ride.
This.
I think at this point so many of the series are just mid and the comments are what make me keep on reading.
The Kusonoki comments fill my heart with such joy. The community there both glaze and shit on their best girls. Those chatters really know how to have fun.

Yep EXACTLY!

I mean I still like the series (especially Hikari) but I probably would have dropped it by now with this release schedule if it wasn't for the comments section here lol THAT'S that's what made chapters worth the wait

Didn't mean to imply you should, was just bouncing off your comment to say what I thought was happening and how I think it's supported by the novel.

I'd say "Hikari broke down" points to something from their last scene together.
I took the "Hikari broke down" as Hikari being done w/ her, precisely b/c the rest of Aya's thoughts were on how understanding/kind Hikari was to her.

I can imagine "never blames me" (as in Present Simple) being just a translation thing. But I can't imagine why Yami would have dreams (confirmed by reality) about Hikari not blaming her before the whole drama occurred.

...is this the one they said they intended to be a main chapter? That means this was crucial to the plot to them

This shit is...it's certainly something
It's a Maruto staple: a character masturbating when experiencing extremely conflicting emotions. Not exactly a plot point, but rather a way to show trying to deal with love drama.

I think people are confusing hating characters with hating a manga. It’s a very complex manga that utilises complex characters that can seem infuriating, but unlike other manga these characters actually all have a respective purpose.

that aside, it was pretty fucking funny to see arguments explode in every single comment section, especially post like ~chapter 35 or so
most people here are turbo brainlets who think if a character is mean, or stupid, or selfish, it's a flaw with the writing and not the point. you can't fix retardation, best to just point and laugh

I just read it as Aya isn't having nightmares where Hikari hates her.
Then it wouldn't have "in my dreams or in reality"
Where do you get "before" from?
If I'm not mistaken, your idea is that Yami read Hikari's reaction at the end as being done with her (and I'd assume that would be because she actually blames Yami). So when did this "Hikari never blames me" occur? That's where "before" came from.

These fucking comment sections genuinely range from absolute shit flinging hating on characters to genuine interesting discussions about the characters and story

and that contrast only makes it even funnier to me lol
Exactly I’m just sitting here most days with a figurative bucket of popcorn

I think Hikari can both not blame her and be done w/ her? In that Hikari doesn't think Aya's done anything wrong by being with Yuu (or even kissing him) (ETA: or still being in love with him) and that's why Hikari doesn't hate Aya, but Aya's refusal to be honest with Hikari is what makes Hikari done w/ their friendship. ETA2: I think blame is being used here the same as how Haru uses it when she says no one's to blame.

Which I think it's the same beat w/ Yuu - consistently what Hikari is upset/spiraling about is the not knowing what's flying rather than the past relationship. That's why the path to reconciliation in 45 is Yuu being honest about what happened - if she was mad about the relationship itself, or actually hated either of them, then there's nothing Aya or Yuu could possibly do to make amends.

Then it wouldn't have "in my dreams or in reality"
Dunno about you but most of my stress dreams are about things that aren't true. ETA: or yes this is Aya's wishful thinking that Hikari will be ok w/ her relationship w/ Yuu once Aya figured out the triangle.

They are released simultaneously, so the novel chapter number is the same as the manga one.
This dumpster fire doesn't deserve the privilege of getting the readers to do extra homework by reading a novel version too

I'd prefer to have popcorn with the other chatters in the manga comments
