I assume this is out of personal preference? Just asking cause MD doesn't have any rule prohibiting fan translations of series with official English releases.

I've done scanlation on and off for close to 15 years... just as motokare alone, this is already my 10th year... and all the while I've never once broken my own rule and scanlate licensed stuff... it's very hard to go against that belief. I mostly translate underrated stuff cause I want to bring awareness to certain titles and translating licensed stuff to me defeat that purpose. Getting something underrated licensed is always a win to me.

I'm pretty sure though there will be another group who don't have qualms about translating licensed stuff will take over scanlating this once I dropped it. Since this is popular (?) enough now? it's just a matter of when.

But taking into account the changing landscape of today's licensing and official translation scene, I will only reconsider if the official is AI or maybe if this becomes frozen (but when that happens, i bet someone else will be already scanlating this lol). Frankly I'm more concerned for Nemu The Corpse Bearer since that's 7Seas and with the recent AI company acquisition, I think 7Seas using AI is inevitable (like VIZ sooner or later since Manga Plus is already riddled with AI).

Totally understand your position, it's just that I've personally been losing faith with official EN translations over the years as too often it seems like cases keep coming up where they prioritize quantity over quality, which tends to be the opposite case for fan translation.

I'd pretty much guarantee that any official TL isn't going to put in all the effort that you've put in to this manga, from identifying and explaining JP media references in the manga to engaging in reasonable localization when necessary.

Granted, my bracket in the manga consumer base is almost entirely the "will stop reading rather than purchase access to manga if not accessible for free" one (aka pirate), so it's definitely for selfish reasons that I'd want your TL to continue.

I really appreciate the translator bc it's really clear which is which while still letting us know it's a word pun. I guess we missed out on the JPN experience of being confused but honestly, I'd pass on that.
