This is a solid, good series. I rate it 8.5/10, rounded up.
The bait-and-switch was done well. I was like: "this author knows intermediate writing techniques? Astounding!"
There is lore and worldbuilding, and rather than generic fantasy, it's in a Victorian-era setting.
Our MC makes steady progress, neither too quickly nor too slowly. It's not a LitRPG, for a change.
There are a number of side characters with personality and backstories.
And the translation is competent; no friction encountered while reading.
All in all, a well executed adaptation and translation of what seems to be a good work.
Man, going on about the sheer adequacy displayed here makes me realize what utter slop I've gotten used to lately, manga-wise...
It's a good manga. Read it.
