I mean i get that, but it doesnt excuse the fact authors seem to love to include assault and rape as these throw away scenes. Whenever they need to introduce a bad guy, or give someone trauma, instead of actually giving the character an interesting story they take a shortcut and go 'uh..... fuck it i guess rape works'
