Why is the author always make it the male's pov? Do we really want to be dominated by ourselves that much?

Now, I know what you meant—you care about what body the viewpoint character has, not what gender their consciousness is—but if you want to try to make a cishet male pov out of this you're not going to get anywhere sensible, like, you do realize that whether the implied premise is "Point of view: Hot for my body with her soul in it" or "Point of view: Hot for her body with
my soul in it", the situation is completely screwy genderbent self-cest either way, right?
