like she immediately pointed out muay thai with no indicators whatsoever and then got fucked by an elbow strike of all things (prolly the most well-known muay thai move along with knee strikes). like bruh. dunno if the author wanted to add another female character and she bombed in the oh so almighty questionnaires and now he's trying to get rid of her/write her out of the story or what.

She was tired, trying to get him down now that he was against the wall and there's no easy way to avoid an elbow from that position.

that elbow could quite literally kill when aimed to the temple like that but i swear to god if she just tanks it and shrugs it off next chapter like that's at least a hospital visit

Mangakas don't even try to make female characters relevant other than being:
a. A love interest
b. A damsel in distress
c. A stepping stone to a male character
d. All of the above

Well, there's absolutely ZERO romance so far in this series. So I'm not sure why it's tagged as such. Certainly there's Fanservice but that's about it.

Fuck off. This manga really knows how to make me angry.
Don't read. I stopped taking it seriously at the very start. But sure a beginner isn't going to just sprawl a national champion wrestler. And even if he does he won't stop the follow up which he is completely clueless off.

she didn't have to blindly rush in to grapple him is what i'm saying. her whole "strategy" just seemed plain dumb. would've expected a leg sweep or something to catch him off-balance and THEN try to grapple/choke him or whatever. like running into a boxer type guy and then getting hit lol. just priceless.

Akita is getting good, it's nice to see. He completely outplayed that dude, disarmed his trap, sneaking nice hits then capitalized on a mistake on his own terms.

Hope Miu will be okay! The Ass to Mouth duo must endure! (Yes that's their name, trust me, I'm right)

I don't think either brother has been in competition for a while but I think the only reason the sprawl worked was because the guy flat out wasn't expecting any sort of takedown defence and was just worried about a knee, and he was about to follow up (he's even thinking about it) and then he gets hit with a knee and sort of goes nuts.

But the issue is that Akita seems to get a whole lot of these coincidences piling up one after another to bail him out whenever he needs it in what's supposed to be a dark, gritty, realistic story.

What sort of leg sweep? A leg sweep from the clinch? Like an inside or outside trip? Stuff like De Ashi Barai still needs the clinch and she probably wouldn't even learn that in Pro Wrestling.

The fact that the bad guy is an amateur wrestler whereas the MC (to the best of our knowledge) had zero wrestling training except explicitly from this chapter is annoying.
I'm pretty sure he had started training on Takedowns right before Miu was introduced.

In fairness it was a situation where either he wins easily or he loses badly. And his choices were legitimately smart, whereas his opponent was used to one-sided battles and fumbled an easy W.
Agreed, maybe I’m reaching, but these two are literally just well trained jackasses who spent their time after dropping out of competition and high school to essentially use their skills on nothing but defenseless civilians with no training or desire to fight for their life.

Also I thinks it’s funny to headcanon that the knees to the head rocked him so bad that his judgement got scrambled

My issue with it is the manga spent a whole two chapters glazing the bad guy and putting the mc into a heavily disadvantaged situation.

The fact that he fell three stories just before this is completely irrevelant is annoying. The fact that the bad guy is an amateur wrestler whereas the MC (to the best of our knowledge) had zero wrestling training except explicitly from this chapter is annoying. The fact that the bad guy went down in one punch (the chapter even said the knee strikes were superficial damage) despite having a big build is infuriating.

My issue is that the manga wants to create hard scenarios for the main characters to fight in but it doesn't put in the work to make the victories they gain seem earned.
This is valid tho

It’s depression that so many enemies in this series feel . . . so unintimidating. It feels like at every turn. None of these characters can truly serve as worthwhile opposition to the main character or his crazy mentor and that’s kind of boring. Kinda feels like watching gamers with maxed out stats or ridiculous luck bullying lower level mobs. Instead of a legitimately intense contests of strength and skill

You’re saying this cuz the woman got hit… in a fighting manga??

No actual indication that she lost.
