That reminds me. In the novel there is a common theme in this.

Over the course of novel, Crim and the players of the first server deal with bosses with ridiculous mechanics or situations that make players hate the devs more and more.

Like a Cuthulu boss that is basically a DPS check. Depending on how much damage it took effects the ending of the quest with the worst one being the sacrifice of the NPC. With the “best” case being the NPC helps seal the boss away and that NPC falling into a deep slumber. Crim and the server decided to send the devs a middle finger and achieve the true best ending.

Or another one where the players have to play the attackers in a siege like scenario against zombie hordes. Where the boss has a final phase that ignores provokes from tank for aggro, because it switched from standard MMO raid boss to more like a PVP fight but still with the boss stats it has.

This boss fight in the manga is probably among them if you think about it.

mirrored combat is one heck of an annoying mechanic.

If a game dev forces 2 separate teams of people into joint boss fights like this someday I hope both sides of their pillow are forever damp and warm.
There is a boss like this in maplestory... sure your fighting him alone but you need to jump between mirror planes everyso often to reduce his hp equally... I fucking hate that boss

wait, you read the wb/ln? in which chapter should I continue reading?
Currently the manga is adding alot of stuff the WN author resn didnt write or skipped. Majority of the mangas chapters dont appear in the WN but i think it should be fine if you start reading around chapter 20-30 of the web novel, but its best to read from the beginning.

The whole web novel has 700 chapters rn but i think the TL is only at 300, but i read raw so thats no problem

the underworld tree arc has the best mechanic tbh. Those who read the author previous work WGO would be familiar with this. Basicly in the first stage of the arc "Liberation of the Royal Capital" player is required to close the rift (called wound of the world in WGO) which require the help of one of the 12 (actually 13) saint who are far decenndant of the original lightwings tripe who has the ability to heal wound of the world (though player with rare race related to lightwings can also do this but the only recorded case is Solleon's little sister)

And during this there are multiple routes leads to different endings. I dont really remember much since i read this years ago but i think it's
- if all 12 saints are alive including the 13th saints, and 5 great demons are defeated and made into allies (Aille, Lucifugus, Astaroth, Lillith, Belial) and there are atleast one awakened players (4 awakened in this arc) open a hidden route, but i forgot what it was.

And If the Royal Capital is liberated with the defeat of Clifforth iI Belial, the Underworld tree will sprout in the middle of the royal capital and count down for the final battle. The result of the battle will literally determine the fate of the whole server.

The 4 awakened players are given the choice to fight the underworld tree. If more than half the vote chose to not fight, the server will reset to the launch day with all the NPCs memory wiped out, but the players are allowed to keep everything they farmed and prepare for the underworld tree fights in the future again. If more then 2 votes chose to fight, losing will result in DUO getting completely wiped out and Theia will regenerate a completely different world and players start from 0 again.
requirements of Victory is to have atleast one of the 4 awakened players reach the highest point of the tree in 48 hours.

This is by far the best events mechanic I've seen in any game fiction and i really want it to be adapted in the manga some where in the future. (But ig it would take insane long time since the underworld tree arc is around chapter 500 of the WN and the manga haven't even passed the chapter 30 of the WN yet lmao)

With that panel of I-wa staring at Crim after Crim says "now something'll happen", zero chance it's over.

I don't think this boss is done. Usually, when you defeat the enemies, especially the high-tier bosses like Raid bosses, they drop the items. In this chapter, I don't see any dropped items unless they're brought up next chapter back at Oni's place.

This duo (pun intended) fight on both sides of the mirror was presented in a fantastic way. Props to the mangaka, great job!
