That's not how you use the term setdressing. I keep reading because the chapters are still entertaining on the whole, no need to feel attacked if someone doesn't like a part of something you're reading.

For me it's a “slowly but steadily”, but… same.

A big reason is that its emotional climax has already happened by now, so I've no idea if there's something to build towards or to look forward to.

Literally at this point, just what happened with Jurota.

Because he's either slow of aging, or incapable of it now. So it's more a mystery of what he did with whatever life he now has, and whether he did eventually die, or if he's still in the world of the living but in some messed-up way and possibly could meet Dara-san again.
