The comment about how all the faith from the snake-spirit fad goes only partially to Dara-san, and even less of it going to the serpent splinter now possessing Amane, got me thinking. It said they didn't get the lion's share of the faith because "they are not the ones directly enshrined there". But if not them, who? Who's even left to gather the faith? We've got the serpent's body and Koharu entangled together in Dara-san, the serpent's head possessing Amane, and Tsubaki sealed away in a pit in the forbidden land. That's everyone, isn't it? There wouldn't be a random other deity hanging around the shrine, slurping up snake god faith.
Then I realised! Jurota! He's become a subordinate mountain god, as the consort of Yamatagi Madara! In the chapter 26 endnote, it talks about the deities of Hirahiro Shrine - Ameyatsukoharume-no-kami, which is a stand-in for Dara-san, and Tokanehiko-no-kami, with little information of how the latter came to be enshrined there. I thought it was just a cute nod to how Jurota had become spiritually bonded to Dara-san, but their entwined stone arms are looked after there as well! He must be properly enshrined there as a minor deity! So the more faith that gets drawn to Hirahiro Shrine, and the more popular the snake fad becomes, the more power goes to him! Maybe if he gets enough, he can return in the future as a proper conscious guardian deity? Happy reunion ending?
