No it's not. It's a rushed version of the web novel, starting in middle chapters. To explain what's going on I'll have to spoil the novel, but basically it's teasing what's going to happen in the near future to reduce the feeling of loss in manga only readers?

In the novel, she just ran off when her childhood friend appeared. There was no substantial interaction between him and Sei.

Then Scarlett asked for Sei's help to fight a boss with her own party. Then the childhood friend nearly died and she begged Sei for a rare and expensive health potion needed to save him. After he refused, she promised to do whatever it takes to repay him and he gave it.

That is where Sei saying 'potion' came in. The childhood friend wasn't even into Scarlett, he was into some older woman.

Hahahaha, the first half of this almost changed the genre! … Or maybe not, considering how much they’re keeping of the WN.

Yeaaa, I didn’t read that comment last chapter, and won’t read the page now, but I’m pretty sure I agree with it. Some series is good with the source material, and some gets better with an experienced team guiding it.

For example, this is a much better way for Scarlett to get banged out (literally), and doesn’t make Sei seem as pathetic as he was in the WN. As for the rest, well, I can accept it better now if they go that route.

IMO that's not what happened at all. I think what happened was, manga readers read ahead in the novels, and then threw fits because they didn't like the three girls each eventually leaving Sei, and this is the book author capitulating to angry manga fans. So the spoiler above is the most likely thing to be changed in the manga.

Structurally they kind of have to. As long as Lunamiria clearly won’t be getting any dick despite being the “first girl” and clearly in love with Sei, then all other female characters hes fucking will get to outshine her.

Narratively the only the only way for an author to balance that out (if the want to keep delaying her development and any activity between her & Sei) is to remove the other female characters and cycle in/out new ones periodically.

There’s nothing stopping them from returning in future (and if this runs for long enough they absolutely will at some point), but right now this is the most likely course of action based on how its been written so far.

Then all the mangaka has to do is have Lunamaria hop on dat dick.

Unlike the wn where the author can just do whatever he wants, the manga has to account for sales and public reception. Things have already changed a bunch from the wn, including the overarching antagonist that is the malicious deity that doesnt even exist in the wn.

Well this chapter was most definitely deserving the mature tag, full censorship and all but that was definitely depicting penetration.

As for the party members leaving, that's totally fine? This party was meant to be temporary from the start, they just worked together because some stuff happened. I only really expect the priest girl to be following MC as she seems to have gotten a divine revelation specifically about him?
Plus for the story it is good to have a rotating roster if there are to be more girls later. Too many stories just keep everyone around and we get to like 15 harem members where each of their screen times are cut comically short that they're all reduced to caricatures throwing one liners every now and then as the only way to still to assert their own existence.
