Starting today MD limits the number of chapters people can read without being logged in. Unfortunately i did not count them but i think it was about 10

Also the advanced search is now only available for logged in users.

the usual quick search is now limited to Manga titles when you are not logged in. before it used to show hits for groups and authors as well.

EDIT:
Mangadex already had a huge Databreach in the Past. now "soft-forcing" users to register is questionable at best. this and also limiting features like the search is just plain bad.

call me a tinfoilhat or whatever but i wonder what will come next ? A chapter limit for non supporters ? latest chapters only available for supporters for 48 hours right after upload ? certain titles only available to supporters ? . . .

remember the frog is being boiled to death slowly cause he doesnt pay attention to the small changes in temperature . . .

I feel like this could be beneficial in some way, because there were many multiplicatives of people that were reading not signed in, and mangadex needs to gather data to create better trending lists and such, (they don't do views favorites if ur signed out)

@Grogzilla maybe it would have been better to make this announcement before the limitations went live.

and " API abuse enforcement " is very cryptic and impossible to know that this was meant by it.

EDIT: i created this post before the announcement was posted.

That is the most optimistic post i have seen about this situation.

Both can be true. Certain users make a huge deal out of every tiny change every single time it happens. I no longer give them the benefit of the doubt.
i would not call these changes tiny.

and the way the announcement was posted seemed more like : oh shit we got caught. users are mad. better post an explanation quick.

and encrypting the whole thing with "Enforcing API Abusement" in the development updates did not help either.
if they had spelled out what they were planning to do people would have protested back then too and voiced concerns.

MD has developed a habit of insufficient and intransparent communication. it was not like that 5 + years ago.

this was received very poorly by many users and did not help the site. they even had to revert it because it caused additional issues.
other users also explained that this limitation is unsuitable to tackle the issue it was supposed to deal with.
MD Devs are technically versed and smart people who know the ropes. Therefore it is hard to believe they did not know that this would not hinder any bot or scraper but mainly affect ordinary users
