I can't bring myself to feel bad for Saito. All I get from him is the author's poor and lazy attempt to portray him as tragic and make me sympathy with him.

It's not working. He is so corny, I can't take anything he says or does seriously.

Thanks for the translation (also I just noticed that ch. 40 was skipped. I suppose I'll briefly skim through that once it releases).

I feel SO fucking bad for MCs in rom coms because if they don't do anything they get called a a pussy by the viewers, but if they do stuff and are a Chad then you get people like you who call them "corny" so how tf do MCs even satisfy the viewer anymore LMAOO like at this point they could do everything right and someone will bitch about it being "too unrealistic"

Because he is corny (Saito a chad? :questionblob:). The writing is desperately trying to make me feel a certain way about him and I'm not having it. I don't care about his sad, tragic past and upbringing because he's not even an interesting character on his own.

We already have GREAT examples of Romcom MCs:

  • Rentaro (100 Girlfriends)
  • Nukumizu (Makeine)
  • Naoya (Girlfriend, Girlfriend)
  • Hayoto (Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses)

When I see what the genre is clearly capable of giving us, I am not impressed by the likes of Saito. At all.
