By increasing the demand for cotton and silk, along with mechanized harvesting and processing (has she invented the cotton gin yet?), there will be enough socioeconomic disruptions to bring a wave of revolution. It might be preceded by institutionalized slavery, though, as the need for labor increases.

But another landmine would be the diversion of arable land from producing crops for food to producing cash crops like cotton. A country might get away with this by making enough money to be able to import food, but eventually even neighboring countries will divert acreage to cash crops, making food scarce.

This can end very badly.

Re: Slavery, this is why Meriasfel told the princess to do the agricultural reform at the same time, only for that to be delayed by investment costs, which the princess and queen is still trying to solve rn. The textile processing side is already progressing ahead unfortunately, but this imbalance is temporary.

Good point about the cash crop acreage though, I'm guessing by the time the surrounding countries go into food crisis to supply Bergengreen with cash crops, Bergengreen itself will have surplus food from its agricultural reform, making the other countries dependent on Bergengreen.

This manga feels like the author reading Jared Diamond books and thinking how he can explain concepts by showing us what happens when everything breaks down, using alchemy as a magic wand to poof off bad endings and keeping the series light-hearted.
