I think Weiss' dad is my favorite character. Father's doting on daughters is expected, but it's always so cute when they dote on their sons. This also has the vibe of one of those "wife died during childbirth" things and then usually the dad would be abusive or distant blaming the child (who knows if that's true, I'm just guessing from the flash back), but here it seems like the wife died and he went into overprotective over indulgent mode. I mean it didn't work out super well judging by the original story, but this also means we can call BS on the original not being loved and supported. The original had love and support from at least the dad and probably the maid too (who from the beginning was concerned and asked if he was again when he paused on hitting her). He was an ass by choice.
