It might be a translation error, but Ricklent isn't a demon god. He is one of the eight original gods of this world (along with Zantark). Demon gods are those who came from another world with the Demon King. Ricklent is the one who invented magic and the job system.

I like to think of this as a "Lore Chapter," personally; nice bits of lore being dribbled and drabbled, in dribs and drabs, and little doo-dads...

It feels like he's never going to meet the crew of adventurers, which is a little lame; it's also a little odd that the "Evil Goddess," Vida, is basically the head of the pantheon of what we would call "good and decent acts," while "Aldi" (presumably the god of grocery stores?) is a complete dick.

And we still have his shitty classmates to deal with... not to mention that utterly shitty complete shit god, Rod-cock or whatever, who basically treats Vandy like he's a latchkey kid!

That's what it is; Vandelieu is basically GenX. Born before the other kids, but still held down by a boomer parent, while all the younger kids get the belssings Vandy worked hard to create, and he's just sitting there, working his ass off while everybody else gets to enjoy a vacation he made possible through his own effort...
