I don't see it like that. To me I get the impression that he's like Battlebeast (Invincible) or Kenpachi (Bleach) trying to act like Tanjiro( Demon slayer).

I went through some of the older chapters, and in chapter 21 he outright says (thinks) that he's bad at remembering people, so whatever it is isn't anything new. Chapter 20 also starts with a strange scene of Heidemarie (the childhood friend stalker) asking Wimme to promise to remember her and "think about her at least once a day." Probably a flashback, but there's zero additional context.
