well, the cat was not for adoption in the first place, they just found it in the box, before a shop, no paper or something like that indicate someone put it here for adoption.

miko and co just found it here and assume he was abandoned, but as hitoe say in the chapter 63, the kitten love to sit in front of the shop, that the reason she put a frame in the street in the end of the chapter 63, and there was no collar, so for anybody passing there, it's just a stray cat.

hence the confusion in the first place.

and it's not like the author looooove to put foreshadowing thing in the manga, the "haunted ikemen", "godmother" or even "rom the psychik" appear long before the author decide to explore their story.

That's not the same cat. The box it was found in was among a pile of trash. There's no indication the pile of trash is in front of the store.

there are no indication that it's not in front of the shop either, that the problem, but we have the same cat in both scene, moreover, why hitoe choose to put the frame in the street ?

and the box can be indeed near the shop or in front, there no real conter-indication of my affirmation.

i don't know if it's death specifically. Seto's vaguepost speech in the diner made it sound like any spirit that has the ability to warp appearances based on the viewer's perception is generally very strong/dangerous, and Romm's conversation with Miko sounded in line with that too.

all we know is it's a very powerful spirit that can even detect when someone is aware of it through photos. it also seems like it may have been originally attached to Miko's mom (as Miko's dad only made note of it when he met her), or her dad just happened to see it on the roadside and it attached itself to him, i forget lol. it wouldn't surprise me if this spirit was responsible for his death though.
