I've heard that the bullying crisis is really awful in Japan due to their rug-sweeping tendencies in order to keep up appearances. I wonder if the author was bullied or knows some who were, and if they're using some of the stories as inspiration.

Asia in general has big bullying issue that the school tend to sweep under the rag cause it'll affect their "credibility", tho I dunno how much worse is it compared to West.
