Inb4 we have to suffer twenty chapters of a new guy that gets introduced by the mom who's entire existence is just to be annoying.... please nooo.
your kinda rightIt could be. The dad is the same loser as Shinba is. Probably much worse than Shinba. But, the moment dad finally became butterfly, breaking up his own chrysalis, that's also the moment where it takes his own life. Maybe to protect mom, or even Hizumi in the past?
And the bad doll that her mom has, probably also a gift from dad. Similar to Hizumi's dull scarf and toy ring from Shinba. And last, two symbolize things (Hizumi's doll inside the bag and small plant inside a cage) can be interpreted as how she, as the owner of chrysalises, does not want both of them turn into butterfly.
people say hizumi's mom has a "normal" perspective, but her dialogue about how "shinba's words is similar to when she got proposed" makes me think she is projecting her own grievances unto her own daughterAaah, codependency, so romantic.
The chrysalis pages were perfectly creepy in just the right way.
Sooo... We finally get confirmation, only for it to be immediately turned on its head.
Out of all the possible usual suspects, that her father might have been the loser she loved and traumatized her, was certainly not on my bingo card.
it kinda feels uncomfortable seeing shinba like this, given how he normally looks likeholy sht next chapter gonna be fire

I mean, projecting grievances/traumas onto a child and attempting to protect/guide them from said experience is also pretty normal (if potentially maladaptive).people say hizumi's mom has a "normal" perspective, but her dialogue about how "shinba's words is similar to when she got proposed" makes me think she is projecting her own grievances unto her own daughter
