Two important things:

1) Shura only said she would support Baal. She might have a big say, but she does not have the only say.

2) None of the three Greats look at all pleased about this. We don't know what they are going to say in response. It is inconceivable that those who have stood atop demon politics for as long as they have would have just shrugged and took no other actions when Baal elbowed his way up the ladder to their level. I'm sure they have had their operatives working overtime trying to find out what Baal did and how they can prove it and/or thwart it.

This is nowhere near a fait accompli, despite how smug Baal is acting. And remember there is no one easier to outsmart than the person who thinks they are the smartest person in the room.

As a certified villain lover, this chapter was everything to me. Yes, let the hero's journey crumble under the weighty machinations of the antagonist! Put them into peril never before seen and have them writhe in agony! Put them through the worst of it!!

And then deliver ultimate catharsis when you finally take him down...

A lot of people are calling Shura stupid, but I can't really agree with that? She's a coddled and sheltered kid who's probably like... 10 years old, mentally? The thing Baal rescued her from was probably the literal, actual, indisputable Worst Thing To Ever Happen To Her In Her Entire Life, and with such limited worldly experience you can't really blame her for not seeing through it. Especially since Baal is good at manipulating people! It's hard for ADULTS to catch him on his bullshit (after all, he's gotten into a position of major political power) much less some kid whose probably never even been lied to before (because who would EVER lie to a deity).

Basically she's "stupid" not out of ignorance or foolishness, but just naivete. It's not that she refuses to learn, it's that she's never been taught.

As I type this, I realize: she has to have like, attendants, tutors, family, SOMETHING??? keeping an eye on her, right? Where are the deity adults going "Your Highness... this Baal is not to be trusted... Do not let him sway you..." who is letting this happen??? What is going on with deities???????????

But yeah my point is the real issue is that she's even been given this position of power in the first place by the structures of deity and demon society. If it didn't happen to her, it would've happened to another young deity since apparently no one bats an eye at giving them a ton of power and then not safeguarding against manipulation. For some reason. Seriously what is going on.

Well, allegedly, due to a curse placed on him by Derkila, Sullivan can't become the Demon King. And I wouldn't be surprised if he did meet with the princess, since she seems really fucking dumb (she just seems naive). Can't wait to see how this turns out fr.
