Two of the pages just refuse to load for me. Also one thing I always wonder about these kinds of series is answer the male leads fell in love with the ogfl because of how she behaved and how saintly she was why would they fall in love with her now that she isn't doing any of the things she's supposed to be doing? If one of them fell in love with her at the sight of her treating the sick and poor why would they fall in love with her now that she isn't doing that and is just behaving arrogantly?

Usually these kinds of stories have “charming magic” that make the prince and his entourage extremely dumb people, and I hope this one has it too because the prince does seem very stupid.

And also the Saintess is doing these inflammatory moves on purpose as far as we know, so it seems a pit risky without the charming magic to fall back on

What people don't understand is that sometimes love can make people act in ways not like them. Act foolish or neglectful of their duties or incompletent.
It goes both ways regardless of gender.

I am not surprised that the Prince and his posse became tier 1 simps to the saintess after some nice words thrown at them.
But currently those boys should've guarded themselves a bit more.

Maybe the prince needs a refresher on his lessons as well. They certainly have that protecting each other routine down, but that doesn't actually absolve them of responsibility. A modern human should understand the concept of not forcing themselves into a private social gathering.

That said, I'm not sure how I feel about this get-together being a hardened "women's battlefield" that isn't for complaints. Firstly, they were clearly complaining last chapter.
Second, "The prince is screwing up with the saintess" is pretty important feedback to allow through, so is there a proper channel or gathering for that sort of thing?

While love can make you act out of character, this is clearly far beyond that.

These arent just naive young boys. These are nobles and royals that have been raised and reared to lead the country in the future. Them being this vulnerable to "kind words" is just a writing trope being used for convenience. Its slop but slop can be enjoyable.

Its one thing if a farmhand does dumb shit to impress a girl. When a prince is neglecting and endangering his position that he has been raised to uphold his entire life, either he has to be established as supremely incompetent beforehand, or its rather weak writing ngl...

This might be acceptable for introverted highschooler, it would not be tolerated for a child entering high society, and quite literally be line ending for a sitting monarch.

A few honeyed words backed by a superficial knowledge of a individual's personality and preferences shouldn't be able to break past a decade of social training and education to lead a nation. Because make no mistake, that is exactly what most of these young men will have had to endure before being unleashed into society.

And don't take what I'm saying as a guarantee of a well adjusted super teenager capable of resisting the advances of a succubus. But the perents of said childen would either suffer the same deficiencies and lack standing amongst their peers, or be aware their children lack proper social defenses and move to mitigate their weaknesses.

What the end of this scene should have shown, is a mother blindsided by her child's utter lack of proprietary, and the horrified disappointment in its discovery.

I personally think they are free to complain as long as the Queen isn't present but once everyone is accounted for they just lock-in and cease the complaining as much as they can.
Still I do a agree that a saintess going around and threaten multiple engagement of several prominent and powerful people would be a great concern on a nation level. And should at least be discussed at least once.

It seems as though the Queen is, in part, to blame here.
The fact that the Prince has zero idea that this party is of any importance to the Kingdom and its politics, nor does he have any idea of the importance of women in politics, it can be said that he has simply not been taught such. Even if he is an idiot, he should be able to understand the notion of it when it's explained to him.
So either he has been taught the wrong things, or (more likely), he has simply never seen women engaged in politics in any actual way - likely because it's sequestrated away in little tea parties that he is not allowed to see, such as this.

This isn't a defence for him being a rude moron, but that fact the he has no idea how women are involved in politics in his country, does set off red flags, and it gives reason as to why he was so charmed by a women who got her hands dirty and saved the sick and needy. So it's a failure in his upbringing and training, which is entirely on his parent's laps. :thonk:
