Yeah and? At least they evolved and changed. There are so many different rendition that the Christians from yester-years are different from current day. They evolved changed with more modern senibilities.
The religion on the east rarely changes and keeps more of its rooted traditional values.
Just because both west and east has a similar thought processes regarding authority and parental figures, does not mean you can laugh and dismiss the reasoning as a "monopoly on ingrained beliefs". But rather the unfortunate part of life of what happens when a culture decideds to never or rarely change. That is the big difference of the two.
Not quite sure I agree. I think you are conflating new splinter organization with old ones that have existed for over a thousand years.
The Catholic church is still the Catholic church, as are the Amish, Wiccan, or Buddhist monks and the various factions of Muslims. And just like eastern philosophies, any changes that occur happen over the course of decades if not centuries.
On the flip side of that coin there is new a full blown congregation of "Christians" here in town that worship Jesus as their patron deity rather then God.
So yes I will laugh at the absurdity that the more things supposedly change, the more they inevitably stay the same.
