Problem is they clearly still wants to sell the real deal tempura. Of course the locals are gonna like it regardless because they don't know any better.
Also calling a bad tempura fish and chips is just rude to the british lol. Try making fish and chips with milder, more delicate ingredients and they are gonna laugh at you.
Yeah, I didnt mean to make it sound as such (love me some fish and chips, or did you refer to the wife at the end there?), I was more going for " They have established themselves and have a taste that is established to give them enough of a customer base they can make a branch " and theyve lived enough in Europe and Australia that its completely natural their tempura is fish and chips inspired even by accident, and that expats will grow to like the taste too, ontop of the native Aussies.
The only one who has had complaints is a " newly appointed " branch manager, so I assume he has stayed in Japan and gotten used to his idea of Tempura. (Likewise, the people who tried it this chap seemingly didnt know Fish and chips expecting the tempura taste, so ofcoirse they walk into it feeling slightly off) Thats cool, but it gives him fuckall right to threaten them to influence their clientele, and makes me feel its a bit of a overreaction on their part to wanna try and revap your whole thing cus of ONE complaint.
I'm tryna say I think the outcome is gonna be they are gonna keep doing both. But given the Kariya has also basically gone " Americans cant do fried chicken well " (Baffling take) before, maybe he will just go " yeah no, the people who liked it this way were wrong and silly. Theres one way tempura is done and its this." which if anything is the sillier take.
Sorry if I ramble, I'm just real curious where It'll go.
