She got him good in the last panel, nothing beats the urge to correct someone.

He's already said that someone taught him, so he's just reaffirming that he knows the script.

Though the whole "knowing Kanji" thing gets complicated.

• Ignoring the original Chinese characters, and the variations with them...
• Japanese Kanji common kanji were simplified after WW2 in order to increase literacy. Any Japanese coming to the world before that would have had a very noticeably different set of Kanji.
• That's assuming those people had enough literacy to read/write a substantial number of characters.
• Kanji as a usable language depends on having a very large number of people who can read/write it. Yet the whole setup that Saraitsu describes indicates that it's only a small number of people who know it.
• And of course the whole thing is completely Japano-centric. Everyone who gets isekaied to the world comes from Japan. (TBF this is true of many/most Isekai stories.)

One of my main frustrations with this Tsukimichi is what an oblivious dope Makoto is. I can understand arriving like that, but given what he's done and what he's been through he should be completely over that by now.

And his sometimes flipping the switch into cold blooded sociopath doesn't help -- instead that just makes his character wildly inconsistent.
