With how this dragged on I've somewhat lost the plot, but this seems to imply that this guy was never an adventurer, but always a boss monster that just happened to get attached to an adventuring party? That would somewhat explain those dungeon powers of his, but really, dropping this as an afterthought like that?
What I meant is that when he revealed himself as a "vampire" I just assumed he's another "ancient species", since so many of those seem to be running around and it's not like we ever got a full list of known ones. However, it now seems like there are no other vampires, he was the only one in existence, a monster that is to be the progenitor of a future new race. This bit of world building doesn;t seem like something you just drop as a footnote...He was a Dungeon Boss that managed to escape his dungeon, and was traveling around the human world until his previous party encountered him hiding in a back alley and befriended him.
Once they completed whatever quest made them famous, they founded the Adventurer's Guild that's in place to that day. Glasses became the Guild Master, and ran it for over 1,000 years until his death a few chapters ago, and Blood the Vampire was the Vice Guild Master.
but it is the kind of reveal you drop at the end of a major arc like this. Glad we finally got an explanation. Like how dungeons regenerate on a cycle, so does spawn, and now the chance that a vampire is created in this world. And maybe an Ancient Vamprie as well. Given succubus have been around for a while now, would that make Ruirui a rare spawn? What I meant is that when he revealed himself as a "vampire" I just assumed he's another "ancient species", since so many of those seem to be running around and it's not like we ever got a full list of known ones. It is pretty simple. With how this dragged on I've somewhat lost the plot, but this seems to imply that this guy was never an adventurer, but always a boss monster that just happened to get attached to an adventuring party? Just a correction. Elves, Dwarves, and beastkins are not part of ancient species. They are among the 4 main races along with humans. This was mentioned in the earlier chapters maybe 1 or 2. It was explained when Hajime realized that Lily was an Ancient. It is pretty simple.
There are people who are born with racial traits that go beyond humans, elves, beastkin, and so on, those people are classified as "ancient species", and those species were dungeon bosses in the past.
But the adventurers in the ancient past conquered the dungeons in a way that allowed those bosses to stop being bosses, and their traits started appearing in people born around the world.
This part isn't outright said... but I think Blood became a boss again because... he is a powerful individual, his species trait seems to be a rare one, and because of how much he lived, the boundary that keeps his species trait and his conscious mind weakened reconnecting with the past nature of his race.
Hmmm... maybe the way i wrote it was confusing in english, as it isn't my first language, but I didn't mean to say those species are "ancient" too.Just a correction.
