lmao did they write it into fucking Japanese law or something that every isekai protag HAS to introduce mayonnaise and soy sauce into their new world? or maybe that last arc was just the author's last hurrah for original content and now he's relying on the classics of the genre to keep things going, lol.

(honestly, i'm fine with it here because A] it didn't happen within the first 10 chapters and B] there's no elf or other character who becomes obsessed and begins practically drinking the stuff by the gallon, those are the bits that really make the trope infuriating. introducing someone to a new condiment or style of cooking & them saying "hey, this is pretty good!" isn't unrealistic at all; them instantly becoming so utterly, singularly obsessed to the point they'd die of malnutrition after a while, absolutely is lol.)

Wasn't malnutrition, I think an isekai where a protag killed someone with a mayo overdose, was due to food poisoning, because eggs aren't as carefully screened and whatnot as in our world. The only other one I can remember, the little girl spiked the cholesterol of her whole village, and lots of people were suddenly sick.

For the record, there also was the Mayonaisse Man (マヨネーズの男) in “Arafou Otoko no Isekai Tsuuhan” — a relatively unlucky otherworlder in the Empire who could only summon mayonaisse and had to fight monsters with that.
