Sure, the entertainment industry is exploitative as heck. Especially for young women. But even quote-unquote normal careers can be especially exploitative for young women. I think Dad's attempt to protect her is misdirected. You can't just restrict her and assume things will work out better, you need to take positive actions to ensure her choices meet the best outcomes. Surround her with good, trustworthy people. Document your interactions so if anyone tries something sketchy, you have evidence with which to hammer them.

Even the safest choices can lead to disaster- there are no gauruntees in life. Just pick a direction and do your best.

The idol industry is an especially efficient conveyor belt of shattered dreams and substance abuse. I legit can't be that mad about his attempts. Though the mental strain is uncalled for, he should just redirect her daughter's artistic efforts.
