yes. as has been demonstrated over and over and over again. they are a country ruled by a corrupt and evil goddess who preaches human supremacy and also might be a golden eyed human faced monster herself. the golden eyed human faced monsters have shown not only intelligence but utter cruelty in their singular goal of wiping all life off the planet.

Not all warnings can be trusted, especially when someone is trying to drag you in a war that they want to find. She had a legitimate concern.

The real problem here is that she acted on blind faith; you can't negotiate with someone you don't understand. I mean, her whole plan was: we tell them that we don't want to fight and they'll agree not to attack.

Honestly, I think she's too young, and the society she lives in - closed off, with diverse people living in peace for so long - has given her zero chance to understand what the humans could possibly want. She has no idea why wars happen and she can't even understand the concept of ethnic cleansing. Being ignorant is not a sin, but not when you don't recognise your own ignorance.

Consider also, that she may be the figurehead of this foolish peace plan but the majority of votes went her way, so she wasn't alone in her way of thinking. So yeah, I do think they're all very stupid for this.

So personally, I do have sympathy. I really don't think that was is happening to her should ever happen to anyone. I would also always be careful about blaming the victim.

Also, maybe we weren't shown how the MC argued his case, but what we saw from him was not convincing at all. I am not surprised at all that his warning fell on death ears. Of course, it's not like I expect him to be a skilled orator and debater, but personally I feel like he dropped the ball really hard here. It really isn't that hard to give examples of human wicked acts and to ask: how do you negotiate with people who just want to kill you?

i'd argue that you have a point if her entire country wasn't founded on the principal that all humans are genocidal monsters and that they sealed themselves away oh so long ago because of it. Literally nothing has changed on the outside world other than humans getting MORE bloodthirsty so you would think the elders who were alive at the time woulda voiced some sort of problem with her naivete

That's like asking if the military leaders of dictatorships support autocracy or democracy. Alion's rule is based on the tyranny of the goddess, discrimination, and militarism. The military naturally needs to support this ideology, lest the order collapses. So, yeah, the soldiers have to be either scumbags or perfectly willing to look the other way when others behave like scumbags.

And this is a prime example of why countries with strict isolationist policies tend to fall into trouble upon contact with an unknown outside force of significant scale. Isolationism isn't bad itself, but totally cutting yourself off completely without even leaving a spy or two to let you maintain an understanding on current worldly events and mindsets means that you eventually produce political idiots like this one who cannot understand an opponent's intentions upon meeting them, nor expect an enemy to actually be an invading force due to them never knowing what international war is like.

I can sympathize with the lamias who just had babies, as no parent wants to die and leave their child an orphan. But if your three major goals are to 1, protect your family, 2, not die, and 3, protect your territory, then meating an invading armed enemy force head on, outside your territory's defenses, while unarmed, while carrying a key that lets the holder have access the front door of your fortress, and waving a white flag typically understood as a sign of surrender..... it seems like a very easy way to not meet any of those goals. (I know it can mean both offering your surrender and seeking for negotiations, but typically you don't wave the flag as the winning side)

But at least she got to have her peaceful negotiations right? Did she even once think about what happens if the other party doesn't agree to her terms of peaceful coexistence? She was even warned they were not peaceful, and yet, she seems to be just as racist towards outsiders as the humans are.

Also, I don't care how peaceful you want to be seen as being, you don't ever go to a peace negotiation with an armed opponent without having a means to protect yourself. And you most certainly do not bring 3/5ths of your entire military force along with you, also unarmed. Either all weapons are left at the door by both parties, you both are carrying, or you are offering your full surrender.
