Best I can figure, their breakup occurred in middle school, likely prior to her graduating. So it's been at least a year, given he's one year behind her and would have still needed to go through his 3rd year before moving up to 1st year in high school.
And yes, that's part of the point--she never fell out of love for him, and the specific toiletries she uses are not the first example of her continuing behaviors/practices/preferences that she got during her time with him. The fact she's seeking him out and talking to him and teasing (flirting with) him is proof enough of that.
The issue rests on him, and his lack of self-confidence. We obviously have to wait for confirmation from the story itself, but I would bet my lunch money that he broke up with her, unilaterally, because he overheard their middle school classmates talking shit about him and saying that he wasn't worthy of her. He freaked out, thought that he would make her a social pariah by dating him, so he broke up with her out of courtesy to her image among their peers, or something.

And she doesn't like that, but perhaps the breakup occurred right before graduation, so she would be separate from him anyway and couldn't do anything about it. So she decided to simply bide her time, and when he shows up at the same high school, she sets her sights on him once more. She 100% still likes him, and the only one who doesn't realize this is him--because he needs to grow more as a person and build confidence in himself, and learn that who he likes and who she dates isn't contingent on the approval of random NPCs who aren't part of the relationship.

Oh, I'm not arguing that. But as someone who has been dumped, ditched, and had bridges burned? The reminders of someone so important to you become incredibly painful, and you either start avoiding those reminders or somehow normalize them to remove the connection.

What I'm emphasizing is that she loves him so much that she still holds onto those reminders without any display of regret or pain or bittersweet affection. Hence why I'm saying she is well-done cooked; if she loves him that much, then there is not nor will there ever be anyone else.

......Nah man forget the MC, the FMC is cooked more than a well-done steak. For her to keep doing that even after the break up, when most people in her position would avoid as many reminders as possible? She either has a frightening amount of love for him or an inexplicable amount of faith in him.

Either way, she is cooked.
