What an ominous and dramatic revelation!
you're telling me in all their years alive, none of the other witches have killed anyone?
If I'm understanding the translation note correctly, its probably more likely Rea killed another witch or some other non-human, which they would probably find more notable, but then again it actually does seem unlikely that most of the witches we've seen so far would deliberately kill someone, so it could go either way.

I mean… they were seemingly helpful to humans before the witch hunt, and after that they all went underground either subsisting, hiding, or trying to blend in. Murder has a tendency to bring attention to yourself, so I doubt they’d be wanting to do that.

And who knows? This might be the inciting incident that led to humanity turning on them. An accidental death, involving a prominent witch like Rea, turning into a misunderstanding would be just the thing

I think I'm beginning to understand why she insists on not wanting to remember anything.

Most likely possibility…her powers took someone’s life.

Also, humanity’s greed has no bounds, so it’s also possible that people wanted her gold and jewels so badly that they resorted to threatening the witches, which caused her to resort to murder and nullify her own ability for all the witches’ sake.

I can only presume that there might be an ambiguity in the original sentence of did she personally killed someone or she was a reason someone was killed. Being a widely known witch, she likely was one of the first targets of the Witch Hunt. And rather than just killing her, in order to get more info on other witches whereabouts, she might been pulled through an interrogation under heavy duress. First I thought Shien went through something similar (thus her psychological state she has to bear by smoking her medicine), but now I think why didn't the other captured witches went through something like that? Tama just escaped it and Mode dodged this bullet to take another one.

The timeline doesn't add up in this scenario - we saw the very start of the hunt in Mode's flashback, yet neither her nor Tama knew anything about the murder. If I recall this correctly, and if the translation was precise enough, Tama mentioned that not just her and Shien, but some other witches were saved by Mode's warning, meaning they kept in contact with others. In this case Tama and Mode not knowing at least some details seems unlikely.

im sure it only happened by accident.
but even so, Rea will most likely crumble under that memory.
i feel for her.

You saying that given enough time, you'll probably become a murderer at some point?

I think its perfectly reasonable to assume most people still wouldn't even if you added 500 years to their lifespan.

Whether a character is guilty is based on if they're cute. Rea is adorable so she can do no harm. No need to look into this further 0_0

I meant it as the fact that the witches would have to act in self defense, since they were hunted, or was I misremembering this manga's lore

im curious wuts the modern human perspective is in the manga right now.

Get that in the past they were hunted but i think in the modern age they would be worshipped
