Holy crap... the first time I saw that page when browsing VJump some months back... even without knowing the specifics of what was going on yet, I knew they done fucked up real bad. I doubt we'll ever see Avan looking that downright evil ever again!

It also totally jump-scared me - it was only after turning the page you saw it.

I feel like Hihi won’t survive intact, but Avan will wind up keeping part of him to use in a future weapon as a momento

OMG I was translating chapter 63.... and there was a link to this quiz... I managed to get 80% but only because I still haven't internalized japanese spell names lol.

Oooh and there was a way to send fan letters to Japan to Riku Sanjo... "Send fan letters to Riku Sanjo-sensei and Yusaku Shibata-sensei!! Mail to: Shueisha V Jump Editorial Department, 2-5-10 Hitotsubashi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo 101-8050"

I really ought to check out the advertisements before they're 3 months old...

These guys made Avan lose his chance to find and rescue Hyunkel his first disciple, of course Avan is angry.
But man Avan sure was amazing being able to use all these weapons amazingly well.
In contrast Dai spent a majority of his series trying to learn just the techniques for swords.

I am so happy with this prequel honestly.

Avan is more than a goofball, he literally was the hero.

The only problem I have is that it does make me question the powerscaling happening in the original series, being defeated early and all. I hope they'll come up with a credible explanation towards the end of the prequel as to why he was far from his prime when he fought against Hadlar for the ""first"" time (at the beginning of Dai no Daibouken).

Considering how he's wiping the floor with everyone with any weapon now, it's really hard to see how much he struggled against Hadlar, and how he can even fit as just a "support character" in the very end game... although yes, double Dragon Crest and all that is beyond human power, but Hyunckel makes his stand too, Avan should be very high up there.

But the original already explained that: it was because of that dragon transformation spell, exhausting almost all his energy, while Hadlar was fresh and fully powered.
