Since this story heavily references the German wars of unification, with Elfind being Denmark, then what's most likely going to happen is the same as in 1864. Orcsen will steamroll Elfind because of superior numbers and technology.

The question I'm having is how and if they're doing the other two wars, the German War and the Franco-Prussian war as well. A side story with the rise of Japan was also hinted last chapter.

Winner mentality, they think they invincible until they realize NO ZEY DON't.
Don't think they ever consider the dark elves to be accepted among the orc army, and the previous chapters have showed how the elves practically are governed by bunch of airheaded pompous politicians who only talks about beauty and image, nothing but deadweight, and civilians/soldiers are the 1 paying the toll with their lives.

And they just had to give them a casus belli so cheap that any decent foreign intelligence organization can see the writing on the walls on what the orcs are doing.

Everyone keeps commenting on a need for balance. Maybe the rest of the world going to rise up and turn the thing into a world war? Or maybe we're yet to see the elves' real power. Or maybe it's just a steamroll-kinda manga, like Gate.

I feel a little bad for the common soldier elves. They're tiny compared to the orcs. Plus the poor civilians getting shredded by artillery during dinner. 😭

Honestly just feels like general incompetence of their government. Most of the elven military probably doesn't even realize they're at war. And it also doesn't seem like they've compensated for the effects of the dark elf genocide. The dark elves that would've noticed the orcs advance and alerted the rest of the country aren't there anymore. Any garrisons left are ones that were meant to put down rebellious dark elves rather than actually put up a fight against anything approaching a peer.

is this MTL or being done with AI or something because it's pretty consistently getting pronouns wrong like calling elves he/him when we know they're all women.

It's also changing the spelling of proper nouns/names often too, last chapter had the city of Falmaria be different spellings on the same page, as well as a 3rd different one later on. Also a couple of pages where the city of Moira/Moria isn't getting translated in the map diagrams. Little frustrating tbqh.

Ehh territory for sure but hard to say about them becoming citizens.

Remember they performed ethnic cleansing on every single race that is now living in Orcsen.

At first, with modern morals, we’d sympathize with the civilians getting killed by artillery fire.
But then I remember that this city was originally the Dwarven capital and the dwarves were genocided so that Light Elves could take over and occupy these houses, and from what we saw of the pogroms, the civilian elf population was very much an active participant in the ethnic cleansing, and my sympathy dries up.

It’s still there, but, well, these elves are part of the generation that took an active part in murdering their neighbors, so…

I don’t think this is even at WWI level. Their machine guns are still crank operated, and they don’t have the internal combustion engines needed for airplanes. It’s just that Gustav has 21st Century knowledge so he knows how to apply what Orcsen already has in more advanced ways.

Essentially he’s using Prussia-Danish/Russo-Japanese War tech with WWI tactics, with magic letting him cheat a little.
Giant Eagles and Kobolds for aerial recon with compact radios, and magic plates for both refrigerated rail cars and wagons as well as for RFID inventory management.

I checked, and back in Chapter 11, Gustav mentions that the America-analogue had their Civil War about 10 years ago. So I think the tech is probably somewhere closer to the 1870s to 1880s; the Martini-Henry Rifle, which looks to be what the Mayfield-Martini Rifle in the chapter is based on, entered service with the British Army in 1871.

Hiram Maxim made the first fully automatic machine gun in 1884.
