again, his estimation of the value his existence brings to his fiancee is completely skewed.
everything in the thought process densely just circles around titles, social class and superiority in academics, yet she would love him simply because he brought her relief.

I think it also goes easier on the readers. When you show them something familiar like a maid cafe or 'jelly-filled donut', it's just self explanatory, but if you invent something new or bring up some obscure period-accurate thing, you'd have to spend a page or two describing it to make sure it won't confuse them.
There's even a barcode on the bloody thing, It could be a brochure with her family's crest, a pendant, a ring, a number of things he could've recognized as being from this character and from the game and no-one would've batted an eye.

Oh boy, academy time! I can't wait to see the same tropes I see all the fucking time! What are we feeling?

Gotta get the story back on track, for some fucken reason?
Clueless MC is OP and doesn't realize it?
Other girls are super into him but clueless MC is oblivious?
Classism and the evil and rich bully character?
Will he become friends with multiple important characters and try to distance himself to keep the story the same? Maybe he'll even be confused as to why they're getting close to him!
"How can a commoner get this strong!?!?"
Maybe we'll get spicy and have him framed or blamed for something he didn't do!

why is the id card.. so modern day.. why does it have a barcode..
I mean, if we're gonna question that we could also ask why is there a school in the first place.
Or they can claim it is anachronism from the author of the world they are in.

Yeah, lol. Like, the easiest explanation for this kind of thing has always been that the world comes from a videogame, and in that fashion, developers could have easily mixed certain modern details in (Which sometimes happens in JP games IRL). I could create a videogame set in a medieval world and add modern toilets. Why? Just because I can. Then someone gets isekai'd into it, and he'll experience a medieval world with inexplicably modern toilets.

Like with "I'm in Love with the Villainess" (I think) which had modern swimsuits, and the explanation was basically: "The developers didn't use swimsuits from the time because they're not sexy at all, so they added modern swimsuits. Do they fit with the rest of the world? Lol, no, but who cares?"

As usual, Eleonor is stuck to the MC like glue. Wholesome chapter :meguu:

b0fc6o.jpg

★ Eleonor’s thrilled he’ll take the test. At her inn, Arcus is told to stay in Eleonor’s room so he rests well. He insists on the sofa; she has him “just try the mattress”… and he wakes up the next morning having slept like a log thanks to a bit of sleep magic. She teases him; Arcus doesn’t get the joke. (Sanitized.)

★ Exam day: Eleonor tests with the nobles, Arcus with the Knight Class. The Knight queue is massive becoming a knight can change your status. While waiting, Arcus finds a slip with the name Ema Helena familiar, but he can’t place it.

★ Arcus aims for top score to snag that scholarship:

 • Magic: perfect wind shot examiners are stunned.

 • Sword: he defeats an active knight examiner.

 • Team battle: his random teammates are Ema Helena (which is weird she should be the Saint-route heroine, not Knight Class) and Reine Deon (baron family). Ema’s a magic type with a spark skill that just dazzles foes (Arcus remembers it should weaken demons / strong heal, but here it’s only a flash). Reine’s a sword talent with charm. They win: two enemies get caught by charm + spark; the last nearly eats Arcus’s finisher before the examiner stops it as too dangerous. Arcus earns the nickname “Test Breaker.”

★ After the exam, Arcus chats with his teammates on the way to Eleonor unaware Eleonor’s been watching. She immediately asks about “those two girls.” Jealousy flares; she blinds him with her ability for a moment, and he comes to on her lap, lightly restrained. To calm her, he says they’re not his type, adding he actually prefers older women. She goes quiet not mad, but she doesn’t unbind him right away.

★ First day of class, Arcus ends up in the same class as Ema. She guides him in; everyone’s in awe from his exam feats and pepper him with questions. Ema rescues him by reminding the room the teacher’s about to arrive.

thank you for translation
Eleanor is both the unstoppable force and the immoveable object.

Once Arcs becomes a knight, you just know Eleonor is going to do whatever it takes to marry him or milk him dry. Eleonor would likely prefer both, but she’ll probably settle for the second if marriage is out of the question.

Thanks to the random reddit thread,I sped through the series. What a fun read so far.

I'm worried about the addition of a harem tag now that we have a new girl:shamihuh:

Even in isekai, you cannot escape from EXAM :meguuusad: + CLASS RACISM :qq: + MONEY PROBLEM :aquadrink: + SKIRT CHASING. :notlikethis:
Don't forget the wealth gap and the inertia that maintains it. I love that there's a method for anyone to become a minor noble, but it's skewed toward only those capable of spending profound amounts of money on education before entering school and then the tuition itself is so expensive that you have to be from a rich noble family anyway to attend.
