Ngl, I start to get rather bored when it's "Church that's totally not Religion 'C' is totally Evil" something that made like Faraway Paladin, and some other feels like a breeze.
Like if anything, it's less of "This specific Religion is evil" but more "if you allow something a lot of power, there will be someone who try to use that as opportunity for some evil greed stuff", and that's something that happen to other religions too.

Now that being said, it would be sort of a plot twist if either, none in this church is actually bad guy (very very low chance considering setting of this world), or MC and co finds that some of church people that seem sus is actually good while some is actually evil/want to use MC for benefit

Crazy that some rando Brigitte has only met twice is the only person with the sense to tell her about the extremely obvious danger she is in.

Yuri the Duke's son who has already experience the nastiness of nobility and power struggles, doesn't say anything. Useless. Nival who while a lower noble was aiming to be a Prince's aid so while his rank may not have made him aware of it, his dealings with the Prince should have given him some knowledge. Half useless. Kiera is a lower noble and couldn't sus out how weird and suspicious it was that the teacher went to Brigitte so close to her interview. Classified as smoll bean. Lisa who has been seemingly perma banned from the story did immediately sus out something bad was happening off just the teacher's name. She could and maybe would have said something as part of her redemption but alas she is in competency jail.
