every other time something ominous or tense was set up it turned out to be nothing at all, and every person who seemed hostile or leery of Naoomi at the start has since befriended and/or warmed up to him (other than Yukari, I guess). It's even been played as comedy, to further cut any built-up tension leading into the reveal.

Mikiomi was laying on the "poor defenseless girl on a tourist beach" shtick so heavily that it would almost be a triple fake-out to actually have something bad happen here, and a break from the format the author's been using this entire time.
