Suddenly and ending.

That's the ending?

That's it?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy ruined. That's just not a good ending, they better do some epilogue. Like sure the point was that they made up and everything is cool, but that's it? That's how things went about? There could have been SOOOO much exploration about how people think about things during the final day right before the night and then concluding on the night, reflecting more about friendships.

And what is up with that "I don't care if I don't fall in love like I did before because I am happy now." That's just such a shitty line and it does NOT fit with this story. The story isn't that having friends is enough, but that having people you truly LOVE is enough. So, the ending should be that Lemon would love to find someone she can love just as much as the people she loves right now, but that's not something she requires to stay happy. There's a difference between not needing and not caring.

I think the Author completely missed the moral of their own story. And we know nothing about everyone else. What about Rika? What about anyone else? What happened to everyone's lives. This ending just... stopped the story. There was NO conclusion, except "this issue was resolved, and somehow everything went perfect (for Lemon)."

I would like to remind that Lemon was carried by the story and plot, and there was VERY little she did for her to reach some point of happiness. Hell, the last phrase Akiyoshi said about relying more on him as friends... that's what Lemon should have learned. About being more open and relying on people, and being true and trusting. Heck, the fact she wasn't the one planning on telling anyone about her wish, it was Rika who forced her to do it, and the fact that she was trying to pull away from solving a ridiculous situation by using Kogahara's feelings as an excuse, and even "resolving" herself to not studying abroad because she thought the body swap was just going to go forever. It's like she loves living in an everlasting rot of her life. She rots but she still pulls people with her.

I don't know. I genuinely DISLIKE this ending. Lemon REALLY sucked as a person. She never stopped acting self-destructive. And people keep giving her hand so she can escape but we never saw her pulling herself from that pit. Akiyoshi did and pulled himself off. Kogahara is the right person to be by him, it looks like she is very altruistic and maybe the point at the end is that it's okay for her to be a little bit egoistic, especially about the people she is the closest to, when she is an exclusive relationship like that. Regardless, unfortunately, Kogahara is a plot device, a goal for Akiyoshi. But Lemon? The story by the end felt more a story of Lemon. It ends with Lemon, and Lemon learned very little if nothing at all. She lives in lukewarm happiness and it seems like she doesn't care to live in MORE happiness than she is right now.

as soon as i saw the final chapter tag i figured this was going to be a bad conclusion. it really just had no time to say anything. there was nothing satisfying about them finally solving the main problem of the entire story, and when they do, the manga ends in 4 more pages with zero dialogue from 2/3 main characters?? what was the point?

They celebrate when they wake up in their own bodies, but that's what would have happened if the body swap was working as normal anyways... Kinda feels like a metaphor for how much thought was put into this ending...

How do one gets this many chapters to build a story, manages to wrap everything up in good-ish pacing, and STILL ends up feeling anticlimactic?! :dogkek:
What a series, man. Reminds me of that other series where the girl gets their wish granted and somehow it makes her sexually unhinged and then she gives the poor protag fellatio everytime she tries masking her true thoughts. That series was finished more than a decade ago too :dogkek:

I was more referring to her final declaration of how she would be happy even if she were never to fall in love again. It was only a few chapters ago where she confessed to Sunao again only to now have seemingly come to peace with everything in very little time (especially compared to the nearly 100 chapters it took us to get to that moment). I definitely feel like that final page was always planned to be the end it just needed more breathing room so I could really buy it.
It does seem a bit rushed and it probably was by the publisher, but overall I'm OK with it. It won't go down well with the drama-addicted crowd, but I found it nice that this basically ended with mature people making mature decisions. I think the other characters suffered more from the possible axe, like glasses-friend-man and his crush on Lemon.

It's kind of impressive how little the body swapping mattered ultimately and how quickly it stopped being interesting. The relevant characters found out about it early on and even the main characters just kind of got used to it. People keep saying this was axed but I honestly think the author just ran out ideas on how to keep things going. The series was kind of just spinning its wheels since the flashback arc awkwardly resolved the main conflict of the series. Feels like they just wanted to get the love triangle and body swapping taken care of as quick as possible and move on.

I'm gonna say that yeah, it feels rushed or that the author just didn't care about the story after the romance. BUT I rather prefer this than keep on stretching ts for like 20 chapters or more. I quite liked the ending, I liked the story. That's it. What would be good is maybe a few chapters of After Story, that way what's meant to be a dry ending like this one doesn't feel as dry.

Coming back just to thank the comments section of the last few chapters for giving me a great recommendation. Never heard of Himaten before, but it's been getting a lot of hype here so I've been checking it out. About 30 chapters in, and finally moving from the wingwoman to crush phase. But House Husband, despite being a teenage dude surrounded by attractive girls into him and responding to that, already is showing signs of being more actively aware of one of 'em. Same way Sunao was to Kogahara.

As someone who liked this ending, I think I'm gonna enjoy this one too.

Sad to see this series end. Wish it went on for longer...
Hope you're happy, Kishikawa
