Remember, back during the medieval era or similar, the women had to dress like a man in order to avoid being assassinated (if the women are of nobility or higher) or being raped (if they're villager/merchant). He's doing same thing, only in reverse gender world.

It is surprising how the element of cross-dressing as a woman was suddenly introduced, yet it fits perfectly with the historical context and narrative. After all, many famous historical figures also cross-dressed as men.

Come on, plenty of famous women in history have dressed as men—Joan of Arc, Hannah Snell, Catalina de Erauso. In this world, it’s simply the reverse.

If you were a man here, you wouldn't want to have to explain why you can use magic or why you’re traveling alone, would you? Not to mention the added dangers you’d face, given that men in this world are viewed as the weaker sex.
