To be fair, Balam had to spell out the exact consequences to Azz and Clara. Something Azz here neglected to do in detail, only outlining the scope in vague terms. Personal growth or not, you can't expect de-facto kids to properly think those things through unprompted. Hell, a lot of IRL adults wouldn't think about the potential danger to those around them, at best thinking about personal danger. So while this chapter gives us a nice "aww" scene, there's a non-zero chance for at least some of the Misfits to have some belated realizations in the future. Not enough to back out maybe, but enough to keep things spicy.

You forgot Walter Park? Demons go only so far in their interest for others. Regular demons will only help others if it benefits them, or at least, doesn't put themselves at risk.

Demons are egoistical by nature. When making decisions like this, their own interests are the only ones that matter. While the Misfits in particular have a sense of camarderie, that does not mean they became any more open for caring about others.

They may have pride in their family, but when comparison the bonds with their family versus the bonds they themselves forged, to them the importance of the latter is probably significantly more important.

i mean... there's only 12(Agares 1, Schneider 2, Jazz 3, Azz-Azz 4, Camui 5, Keroli 6, Goemon 7, Elizabetta 8, Sabnock 9, Shax 10, Clara 11 and Soi 12) of em... since Iruma will be THE demon king. so who's the 13th?

The demon king AND the three greats are part of the 13 crowns.

Remember that Iruma's archer master became a 13'th crown literally by vacating Derkilas seat in the 13 crowns.
