I remember reading it once upon a time because it had a cool-sounding gimmick and was somewhat funny, but I eventually dropped it because it turned into dumb Japanese harem crap. I was lamenting the downfall of this manga to a friend, but they were interested in it anyways and asked me for the name. I do not know the name. However, I do remember the general gist of the story:
If you know the name, find the terribly drawn cover art, or recognize the plot, let me know because my friend won’t stop bugging me about it

So basically, there’s this regular, non-overpowered guy who loved being a side character since being tree #3 in his kindergarten school play (yeah, weird motivation). After searching for and eventually finding someone who seems to pass every flag for “double-life superhero main character,” he makes it his life mission to role play as their stereotypical comic relief best-friend side character… and STAY as the stereotypical comic relief best-friend side character.
So it follows a guy who is obsessed with wanting to be a main character since kindergarten that eventually finds someone he classifies as a “double-life superhero main character” (think sailor moon but no transformation and it’s a harem) and roleplays as their stereotypical comic relief best-friend side character while silently observing/critiquing their life because he treats the “protagonist” and their superhero harem squad like they’re apart of a show. Things happen as he frequently tries his best to keep up the side-character act, and he eventually gets caught stalking the protagonist’s superhero squad, becomes an unofficial part of the superhero harem squad, and eventually finds out the “protagonist” was a girl and all the other girls in their superhero harem squad are unknowingly gooning over another girl (lol). Suddenly the side-character best friend role player gets 10,000 aura and preforms a hostile-takeover of all the girls in the superhero harem squad with that classic Japanese accidental rizz (ugh) while still trying to keep up the side-character act and keeping the characters from deviating from what he thinks a superhero harem squad should be like (Remember that he associates everyone and everything happening like it’s a show). Eventually Armageddon happens and the side character guy tries to fake his death, fails, and goes to the evil side as a double-agent while playing into the good-guy-turns-bad-after-mind-controll trope with the goal of keeping everything running like how he imagines it should. I dropped it around the part when he starts rizzing the evil side. Also, around that time he gets a mascot. And everyone’s dumb as bricks.
