Honestly nah. The manga peaked when the novel adaptation ended. Everything from that point onwards feels like a very rapid and sloppy powercreep. The MC is now literally useless, and we haven’t seen him do much in volumes.

We’re in the FFXIV equivalent of being in the 2.x patches between ARR and HW. The filler slog bit that everyone encourages you to breeze thru AFAP because holy shit it’s a drag.

Respectfully, disagree. I don't mind that Alan is taking a break on the sidelines to expand on the lore for a bit, because it feels like the set up to a much bigger arc involving the actual bug war. Based on what others have shared of where the novel ends, I don't think it would have been satisfying to end things there, so I'll take it and see where the author wants to go.

Personally, it feels more like the Elpis arc of Endwalker just before Meteion goes batshit crazy. The WoL was pretty much a spectator through all of that, but it provided context for what was coming next.

Hmm, I feel like this is similar to Sōkyū no Fafner. The Festum start off as a hive mind, but as humans keep fighting back, they gradually learn emotions and individualism—like sadness, pain, and anger—until eventually, Soushi and Koyo, who were assimilated by the Festum, manage to break free as separate individuals.
