Depending on the minerals in the water, but likely you will get corrosive stuffs like hydrogen chloride instead of boom boom stuffs. You probably get both anyway since there aren't a lot of minerals in normal water, but the nasty gases can be damaging to equipment due to their corrosive nature. Adding that hydrogen gas is prone to leak, your boom boom might not go well as expected.

Pure water is also not conductive, so you will need to put some ions to make it conductive. Normal salts likely will generate nasty gases, so it is better to use alkaline solutions.
