I had a sneaking suspicion this would happen. My question now is once the stock of geezers runs out, doesn't that kinda fuck over any of Lyle's kids/grandkids? or do they all magically reset once a new hand touches the beacon descendant is born?

there was a sequel and only lyle was in the jewel but the author stop writing/trashed the sequel at a very early stage

Soon? This takes place close to the end of the second volume. There are 18 in total. We are 1/9 of the way done, and the main story hasn't even started. We're in Act 1 still. We're a third of the way through it.
