I was even thinking about a chain rope made of people just linking hands together and when something happens to one then you can relay it to the person closest to the exit but alasHere is the thing if the 2nd squad had cut their own rope wouldn't it be better that the 3rd attempt is made by having a rope that can't be untied by the person attached and uncuttable? That way you can force the person to return? But I guess the author has planned for that door to be an instant death trap no matter what.
Yeah, this is the end result of any attempt to rationalize or understand the door. It kills any possible discussion. When every end result from every possible hypothesis is "no, you die, author basically said so," there's no point in trying. It's easier to move on to the next thing.I guess the author has planned for that door to be an instant death trap no matter what.
I think the problem with that is that the actual problem of testing it, aka having someone with that rope walk through the door, and I don't think the people in the town council are evil or ruthless enough to force a beggar or some criminal to do that. Here is the thing if the 2nd squad had cut their own rope wouldn't it be better that the 3rd attempt is made by having a rope that can't be untied by the person attached and uncuttable? They had someone with the intention of walking through the door, "the geriatric" being a fool instead of doing the chain thing just said -Please noI think the problem with that is that the actual problem of testing it, aka having someone with that rope walk through the door, and I don't think the people in the town council are evil or ruthless enough to force a beggar or some criminal to do that.
I bet for more of a "illusion" so nice that you decide to leave your past life behindPart of me was thinking that the teams were cutting their own lines to stop whatever is on the other side from going through the open door. Leaving it without an explanation feels like being blue balled, but the story is better with a "we just dont know and are afraid to find out" ending
