The root of Saki's unease has always been her internalized homophobia and beating herself up over her clearly sexual desires towards women. She's known she's sexually attracted to women for a long time and somehow internalized it as something "abnormal" and "impure".

"Dark Saki" represents the superego in psychology. It reflects the internalization of cultural rules and everything "authorities" (whether parents, school, friends, TV, media, whatever) have hammered into her brain. It's not something you get rid of on a snap. It obviously takes considerable effort on Saki's part to voice something so deeply buried, to the point of making her cry.

She wants to bare herself to Kanon and dismiss Dark Saki. And that can only be done by laying down all her "secrets". That's just how much she loves Kanon.

It's obviously what Kuzushiro planned all along, since chapter 1 and that's rare enough these days to have a mangaka planning a story for more than 3 volumes in advance.
Ngl even as early as Chapter 7 I knew she was certainly feeling something that was way more than an innocent crush when these are the faces she's pulling after holding her hand. Plus while it's used in a more joking manner, Chapter 2 basically confirms that Saki's mind is kind of in the gutter when it comes to anything that could even be implied as sexual, so it's not unreasonable to assume she felt turned on to some degree even with something as simple as hand holding

thanks for all the helpful comments on the translation! i wrote my original comment on impulse, but seeing everyone take it literally honestly made me a bit embarrassed. i'll definitely be more thoughtful before posting next time. going forward, i'll keep the word 'eroi' in mind when reading that part, and i'll try to learn japanese. things can get lost in translation, and i'd hate to miss the author's true intent.
ah, all this talk reminded me of that scene from yagakimi when touko said 'eroi' to yuu, haha.

Just to paraphrase what I already said last chapter, she doesn't think being horny is evil, you're stupid if you think that's what she meant, she did everything you said she had red flags for doing the opposite of, and you should stop trying to delude yourself into continuing to hate this character because it's just stupid and unjustified.
I don't think someone should get hated on (or should need to apologize!) just because they think an arch isn't well done. I've also read plenty of stuff where I think certain aspects aren't that good or didn't connect with me (or vice versa where most of the work was trash but it did have some good aspects) doesn't mean I didn't enjoy reading those things and discussing them. I find it worrisome that criticisms of a work are often times taken very personally, and people seem to think they need to defend it's honor whenever someone dislikes certain aspects. There is a stark difference between a discussion and a fight.

Overall, it isn't all that surprising that Saki is catching some flack for her previous behavior, she was meant to be frustrating and self-sabotaging in that area after all. Though I give you that, it is silly to imply that Saki is nefarious in her actions/ statements. They are rooted in insecurity and self-hatred and not a principled hatred of sexuality, I think the commenter's hatred of Saki is blinding them here. Nonetheless, it isn't all that serious and sometimes it's just fun dunking on a character.

there's no reason to be embarrassed. Everyone's entitled to both: the good and the bad opinions!

After reading previous threads, I must say Prismatic-chan is unhinged and unnecessarily antagonistic. There might have been a speck of truth or at least a logical reasoning in what they've been saying, but it's being suffocated by all this baggage. You can't reason with crazy. Don't waste you're time arguing with someone set in their ways if it's only going to sour your mood (but if you enjoy it, by all means...).

Honestly there are times when I enjoy arguing for the sake of argument, I can't remember if this was one of those cases cause it was like a month ago. I appreciate your overall calm and kind vibe, we need more of that online
