The compensation doesn't seem to be about a "mistake" but legal compensation for a crime commited by minor, which makes the parents responsible for it.

From what i remember she doesn't. That character is a lost cause..
After he is done with his revenge, Yumi surprises him with a visit. She was his other childhood friend, a tomboy. Satoshi, Eiji's best friend, was the only one who figured out what Endo was doing, but like the GOAT he also is, he didn't tell anyone. Instead used Social media, where he is big, to help him. There he found Yumi.
Anyway, Yumi was the only one that didn't give up on him after he was NTRd. Even while he was a shut in she came by his house to try to talk to him... Why? She was in love with him all that time. But she chose to step aside as Endo had feelings for Eri, her best friend then.
But since h was depressed he was harsh and yelled at her when they parted ways. She went to high school he had to repeat the year...
Now that she returned he didn't fell like talking to her, he felt guilty for what he said. She actually didn't resent him for that and told him she still loves him. He doesn't accept her as he thinks he doesn't deserve her love... Only after he has dinner with her Dad, who always liked Endo, he decides it's time to move on. So he and Yumi become a couple!
We then have a few wholesome ch of them going on a date, then going on a double date with Eiji and Ai. He also bonds with Eiji and Satoshi, they hang out and listening to Satoshi's love troubles lol (Btw. He's in love with Hayashi, and she is also in love with him... But both still don't know that about each other)
There may be some minor mistakes, it's been some time. If someone notices, feel free to correct me...

Honestly it's not that they are stupid really. Like you stated they academically smart. It's that when he got them they were new to relationships altogether. Anyone who ever got dumped before wouldn't fall for his bs. His surface level manipulation is obvious especially to eri. Eri and Miyuki biggest thing in common were that they were both unaccustomed to adult relationships. Tachibana and kondo have been screwing since forever apparently. He can't bring Tachibana low so like his lawyer said he went after soft targets. The problem is that miyuki after confronting Eiji mother gave up entirely on doing the right thing and eri realizing she fucked up is trying to find meaning in it so she bites the bullet. Two seconds with a therapist and they would have fixed their lives. It's unfortunate that they never get that chance.

Yeah you got a good point there. The writer was rough on both of them. Especially with how therapy is looked at in Japan. The girls are pretty much left to have to "deal with it themselves" as the narritive isn't so kind. But in the case of Eri, she DID have a grasp of what she did wrong, even if Kondo implanted her "so called hatred and disgust towards Endou" she still acted on it as though it was true, though it's clear a large amount of it was "taking Endou for granted" in the same vein Miyuki did to Eiji. Though worse cause it's obvious she never expected to ever apologize and Endou just had to take it for "being a filthy Otaku!" It's practically Eri thought she UPGRADED and so saw no reason to be KIND to Endou who she believed she'd! Of course seeing her state and looking down on others before Kondo dumped her was likely around or a while AFTER her friend Yume dumped her as a friend for what she did to Endou! Convince herself she was "better off" before Kondo showed his true character
And yeah Tachibana was NOT a soft target! Eri and Miyuki were naive, Eri's case you can add FAR more arrogant as her behavior in the flashbacks make it clear that she was "monkey branching" and believed since she was "going on the bigger better things" with "hunky Kondo" and all she has to do is "be cruel and dump Endou, her childhood friend and boyfriend" as she did! She had no regrets, it's ESPECIALLY telling after the dumping, but NOT SHOWN in Endou's flashback likely cause he never thought of it if at all! Eri DID try to reconnect with him! And I think even lower of her as her inner thoughts made it clear she was trying to turn him into a rebound, crawl back to what "she threw away" without even an apology! Maybe a therapist might have convinced her of what she did as wrong and she'd have made amends, but well I'll leave this for a closing arguement. But suffice to say she was "bootleg" Tachibana to Kondo. What he WISHED he could do to Tachibana, but knows he'd never get the chance! It also shows what we know! Kondo isn't this MASTER PLANNER! Anything worked out BECAUSE of the weaknesses of Eri and Miyuki (Eri's weak two-faced character, and Miyuki thinking SHE WAS USING HIM and was in control the whole time, and proving once she FINALLY thinks on it that "She was never in control the SECOND she let Kondo talk her into sex the first time!" The second he kissed her out of the blue and then propositioned her DESPITE knowing she was in a relationship were the signs that he was no good. But Miyuki thought she could have her cake and eat it too! And as we know, she got NEITHER and was left a fool right back to START only way worse then she was as a kid 10 years ago! Nobody who cares with a now DIVIDED ON HER mother instead of the one who loved her 100%! No Aonos ESPECIALLY Eiji! Yeah Ms. Aono's rejection did spur her more to Kondo, but seeing how he was the SOURCE of why this happened and the karma coming her way had to happen! WELL Ms. Aono did say early "she should have stayed quiet" of course unknown to her at this point, she's unaware that was never going to happen because Kondo was out to get her son so he was ALWAYS going to be public with Miyuki....Miyuki though should have known better! Now she's going to be hit so hard, sex will be a TRAUMA for her because it was the catalyst that brought about some "not so nice things"
Miyuki needed a BIG SHOCKER namely proof showing that Kondo always saw her as a fool, in a sense Endou's photo and Kondo deciding to act on his "dumping her to get off on her despair that she got outmanuevered and ruined her life like a fool" was a god send for Miyuki along with what is about to happen next currently in the manga with her mother! Frankly speaking Miyuki is ALSO seperated from Sex which became a solace and as I said above, she might be traumitized NEVER to want sex again as "indulging in the SAUCE/SEX" only made things worse! The police pick up is one of them because she thought she was being "Sneaky" but well that and what happens with her mom in the station (and Kondo's "oh so nice" abandoning her like the coward he is! Great way to show to her "he's better then Eiji" as she KNOWS he'd never abandon her EVER.....and reminds her of how "She did NOT do the same for him" so "she got the man she deserved!") is REALLY going to cement in her head how badly her actions ruined her life, by showing how they hurt her mother! I'm guessing her "shout out" at her mother was added to show how SELFISH and Entitled she's become because of "Kondo's grooming" where the old her would NEVER have done what she did or said to her mother shows more of his corruptions of her!)
One thing about Eri is she simply refused to accept her bad actions lead to her ruin, continuing to double down that in a way, she's effectively closing ANY remaining doors to help herself! If she had geninuely made amends with Endou, which means APOLOGIZING for her words back then, something she refused to do when she "tried to get back together with him" then maybe Yumi who SWORE to never talk to her again might have been KINDER, and they might have helped her, never back together, but at least she's remorseful! But the fact she didn't do any of those things and went FULL RIDE OR DIE means Yumi ASSURED she's "dying alone" a mockery on her "Dying with Kondo" since that showed she REFUSED to ever cut Kondo out of her life! It was obvious he ruined her life, but what did she do, she became his stalker and ruined her life FURTHER! Giving him MORE then he deserved even after he was "done" with her and becoming just another tool to be used
But Therapy isn't an INSTANT cure all! It works only when the patient corporates with the process (and the right process is done! So two way street) and that would take Eri and Miyuki acknowledging their issues! The fact Miyuki acknowledged her daddy issues shows that it MIGHT work effectively with her. But the fact Eri doubled down, she may be past the point where she would acknowledge her wrong to Endou was a wrong. Expecting your CF to forgive and forget ON THEIR END after pulling THAT, and even afterwards, she refused to acknowledge the wrong she did, focusing 100% on DYING WITH KONDO shows that she REALLY needs help! Of course not from Endou or Yumi, she burned bridges with them and her actions later just make it even HARDER to acknowledge what is on her mind! Was her "dying with Kondo" goal anger at him leading her down a bad path, or was it more that selfish side she always had rearing its head again (First time was betraying Endou in the first place), trying to win him (Kondo) back once again because "she gave him everything
His lawyer said it best that being a bottom feeder means Kondo either LEARNS his lesson, or his new circumstances will ASSURE he learns it painfully EACH AND EVERYTIME! Even if he does nothing wrong as those with RIGHTFUL grudges against him aren't going to just STOP punishing him for what happened to them "following his lead" or "falling for his tricks!" AT least with Miyuki, once she was a character witness against him. Their relationship was COMPLETELY done unless he comes after her like a fool in the future! For Miyuki she at least has to acknowledge THAT only happened because she got involved with him. She can only really CURSE her younger self for ever getting intimitate with him to begin with! But she's the only "antagonist" in the story that has a chance to repair her life
